Getting My Art On This Week

Hi Everyone!

Happy Thursday! It's almost the weekend and I can officially say that because I started a new job today! My job is part-part time and I have a deal with the boss that my hours will be flexible since I watch our grand babies the other days. Sooooo, what does that have to do with today's post? Well, one of the pages happens to be about this and I also have other wonderful news to share in another page....I'll let you see what that news is:
GUESS WHAT!!?! That's the same line I used to open the conversation with my mother 32 years ago.

That's right! We're having a baby! A GRAND BABY.  My daughter and her hubby are expecting their first child in April 2013. We couldn't be happier and can't wait to welcome our third grand baby into the family!  BTW, this is the first page in my Get Your Art On 30 day challenge.

Day 2- Welcome Autumn Days!  October is considered Autumn in many states where the weather turns a bit cooler and the leaves on the trees start to turn shades of orange, red and gold.  Here in S. Florida the only change we see is a little drop in humidity. That's how we know it's time for Fall, that and the millions of pumpkins everywhere you look.  My Granddaughter Brianne is so excited, she announced to me yesterday that it is time for "pupins" and time to go to the "pupins patch". To her, a visit to the pumpkin patch and and dressing up like a "princess"  is on her 3 yr. old agenda for Fall. And just like in the stores, she is way ahead of the game, already singing Christmas carols!

Day 3-Get Your Art On!  On this page I was experimenting with stamping tissue paper and adding textured paper to the page.
The new paint pens are glossy and the flower stamp reminded me of a project my mama was working on (Oriental paint by number wall hanging); she used orange and pink to paint the chrysanthemums and I fell in love with the color combination (it was the 1960's).

Day 4-It's A Great Day! Like I said, today was my first day on a new job, learning new programs on the computer.
I was looking at a graphic on line and it said "It's A GRT8 Day!" and I thought, yes it is! Using rub on lettering in white probably wasn't the best idea, outlining them in black was until the pen ran out of ink! Can you believe it? I have a dozen or so black pens/sharpies and not ONE that wanted to work on this page.  Arrrgghhh!  I tried the stamped tissue paper over some text and I like the way this page turned out today.  Eventually, I had to resort to black ink and you can see the smudges but it doesn't bother me. The point is to make art and I am making a point stop hoarding  saving supplies and just use what I have.

Hope you enjoyed the Get Your Art On Pages. It's been fun and challenging to work on this project. This is my 30 days of experimenting with different techniques and seeing what happens. Please check back, I'll posting the pages as I go along.

GO! Make Art!

I like the travel journal idea. I'm leaving on a jet plane soon. Maybe I'll pack up my journal. Nice blog BTW. I should journal my blog quotes too. Sigh you just gave me more ideas than I have time for this month.
It's all good!
