The Ordinary Life

Hi Everyone!

It's been awhile but I found myself playing in my art journal this week between working and caring for my grandchildren.  In my Monday night theology class we were discussing the spirituality of vocation and the fact that God is in everything we do, our work, our relationships, in our ordinary life. I was thinking that my vocation and ordinary life intermingle and sometimes it seems that my life is mostly the same day after day.  Maybe you feel that way too. It's not a bad thing, the ordinary and I'm not complaining, I'm just saying there is comfort in living the ordinary life. Looking around and seeing the blessings of each day, in the ordinary. So this week I suppose I was recording ordinary life in my journal pages.
You can check out this ordinary life by clicking on the page tab above: ART JOURNAL. I'll share my personal art and stories behind the art with you.

I
Tell me, does your art imitate your personal life, your vocation and your relationships?

Happy Painting!

I love your pages. And yes, sometimes it feels like nothing changes day to day...but then when I look back after a year or 3 or 10, EVERYTHING has. Hang in there! Your art is lovely. Happy PPF!

our images just leap off the page. I love the way you use color - beautiful. I am noticing that as I incorporate more art into my life wonder presents itself - that childlike wonder where the world I see all the time looks new. As I look at your work I see magic in your ordinary day and the way you capture it. Happy PPF!

Your work is beautiful. I love how bright and colorful it is.

There can be something very special in the ordinary. We just have to take the time to notice and celebrate it.

Beautiful done! so many lovely colors, so fresh and makes me smile :)
oh.. if my art imitate my own life and surroundings.. I do not know.. I'm not aware of that..

but, I've been thinking sort of.. that our art work reflect a little
(and maybe more than little in fact)of ourselves - without we know it.. :o ;))

Me, I love the ordinary. Peaceful, simple, and comfortable. I paint ordinary things that bring me joy. I love to look at journals and sketchbooks of ordinary people and places. I think the ordinary is interesting and sometimes beautiful.

Art comes from the 'real you', from inside. It doesn't work if its forced or fake. There is a pure beauty and spiritual insight to be found in the 'ordinary' if we just look:)Have a great weekend

I too am for the everyday ordinary. In reality we who think we are ordinary are not all. We are expressive and full of life, as is your art.

Love your art journaling! That's what we were meant to do. To appreciate the ordinary in everyday life.

I think I have an ordinary life, but I'm having so much fun doing what I do. I love how you used color on your composition books. The hues blend so well and if you look closely, you begin to make out shapes. I like to sew and I recently came across a post (can't locate it now) where someone took fabric paint and threw it on the back of a jacket, folded it, mashing the paint. A beautiful abstract shape appeared, much like your papers. Simply gorgeous!
